Fall is an exciting time of year in Manhattan as people return from their summer vacations. Not only is sweater weather here, the peak season of cultural events is underway. Halloween and Thanksgiving are right around the corner, but before we get there, Midtown West has great fall events to lead you up to our favorite holidays.
New York Comic Con
New York Comic Con is an annual fan convention for comics, graphic novels, anime, manga, toys, video games, movies, and television. The event will take place on October 5th to the 8th at the Jacob Javits Center. As always there will be plenty of celebrity guests on hand to answer questions and take photos with, such as Felicity Jones and Mark Hamill of Star Wars. Comic Con is perfect for the entire family, and wearing costumes of your favorite characters are highly encouraged at the event!
Met Opera Season
The Metropolitan Opera season begins on September 25th at Lincoln Center. The Met showcases not only some of the most talented opera singers in the world, but some of the most talented conductors, composers, directors, designers, and dancers as well. Opening night will premier the newest production, Norma. For those who have never seen an opera, it can be very emotionally moving so be prepared!
Oktoberfest Central Park
Oktoberfest events are abundant in Manhattan this fall, and one of the most fun events is Oktoberfest in Central Park. Located at Summer Stage by the 72nd street entrance, Oktoberfest celebrates the German holiday of drinking beer and eating brats. Besides eating and drinking, guests will enjoy a parade featuring Polka and other German customs. For those looking for a simple German Beer Hall to celebrate in Midtown, Reichenbach Hall will do the trick.
New York Comedy Festival
New York Comedy Festival takes place this fall from November 9th to November 11th throughout Manhattan. A few of the feature performers are Bill Maher, Jon Lovett, and the Impractical Jokers. The festival will take place across 4 different venues, 3 of which are in the Midtown West vicinity: Town Hall Theater, Madison Square Garden, and Beacon Theater. Check times and dates here to see your favorite performers.
